Skims Century City Valentine’s Day Pop-Up
I endured the line so you don’t have to!
I needed to pick up my sold out Chanel Pivoine lip liner from Bloomingdale’s this evening, so I decided to take a peek at the pop-up while I was at Century City. Despite seeing the long Disneyland-like line all over social media, I was feeling chaotic and decided to test out waiting for 5 minutes and see how much the line moved. It actually seemed to be moving fast enough, so I decided to stick it out. Midway, I started to get hangry but it was too late for me to back out. All in all, the line took an hour and a half. What was I thinking?! However, might as well inform the LA people on how it went. I am essentially doing the queen momager, Kris Jenner’s, work!
I will say the exterior of the pop-up is very cute and aesthetic, and saw younger girls taking pictures with it after going in. If you are fine with throwing away a couple hours and live for the thrill of inching forward in a Disneyland line, this might just be for you! If you already had a stressful evening like me, having driven all the way to Melrose and back to pick-up something, this is not a zen experience. I will say that everyone working the pop-up was incredibly nice and exuded the friendliest customer service. Big props to the moms, boyfriends, and husbands who I saw waiting in line, especially the ones with kids.
Once I finally made it inside, it was a chaotic swarm of people. The inside was very small, and everyone was told there was a 3 item limit. There are also no dressing rooms, so you have to know your size. I was disappointed to see that none of the normally sold out fits everybody items were there, just a small selection of Valentine’s Day Shop items. These included lace slips and bodysuits, candy heart bras, undie sets, and valentine’s day undies. I did my best to get photos of the selection, but it was hard with so many people packed inside. You have to pretend you are at a New York deli and act quick to put in your order with a sales associate. Everyone who saw me checked up on me and asked if I had been helped, which I greatly appreciated. I ended up getting 3 items, as I had to at that point with how much I had waited (great Kardashian marketing!).
Upon gasping for air outside finally with my prized bag, I was greeted with a cute heart-shaped beignet station. So if you are looking for any sort of consolation prize, this is what you get!
Now, was it worth it? Immediately after leaving the pop-up, I would have said no. However, now scrolling through the Skim’s website, all of the items available at the pop-up are completely sold out online. As you will get to know me, I live for the thrill of getting items that are completely sold out or hard to get. As I satisfy my hanger by stuffing my face with Thai takeout and assess my purchases, I am happy I went. However, I would go during the day time if you can to avoid after work madness, and bring water and a snack! XO <3
