Wine Review: 2022 Wölffer Estate Summer in a Bottle Rosé
Long Island, New York
Wrapping up summer with with none other than Summer in a Bottle (though it’s always sunny in Los Angeles)! I tend to stray from reviewing the trendy bottles, but this one definitely has my stamp of approval. It has a very good quality taste profile, a gorgeous bottle design that will elevate any picnic spread or dinner party, and is at a great price point. Talk about a triple threat! This particular review is for their Long Island, NY bottle but they also have a Provence, France one — both are delicious!
I first tried this wine in New York a few years ago, as the Wölffer Estate vineyards are located in Long Island. When I got back to Los Angeles I hunted down the very few stores that sold it at the time, and secured a case at Blackbeard’s Crafts in Sawtelle. These bottles are a bit harder to come by than a Whispering Angel, but well worth it. Total Wines carries it now as well. For my birthday recently, one of my best friends kindly gifted me a bottle she had brought back from her New York trip.
And now for the review! The color is a gorgeous medium pink-orange. There is grapefruit, stone fruit, apple, pear, and rose florals on the nose. More notes of wet stone can be tasted on the palate; it is dry with medium acidity, medium alcohol, and a very long finish. The perfect wine for any sunny day that calls for some rosé!
