Nail Trend: Ombré Nails

The Nicole signature nails!

I give my nail salon a hoot because everytime I come in, I always get the same ombré nails and dark purple gel toes. My best friend also goes to the same salon, and apparently they all call me ‘Ombré Nicole’ (best nickname ever). I love ombré nails because they are very clean and natural looking. This is a style fit for a modern day princess! I especially love them paired with an almond nail shape. At the very least, a dip powder base is always used which has been the reason I never need tips and am able to grow my nails long without them breaking. This post goes through all the different ways ombré nails can be achieved, given my experiences with different nail artists. I hope this gives you some inspiration for your next salon visit!

Full Dip Ombré: Dip powder is used to for both the pink base, then a brush is used to tap white dip powder on the ends.

Dip + Gel Combo: Clear dip is used as the base, then pink gel is applied on top. White polish is brushed on the tips then a sponge is used to fade it out for the ombré look.

*I have also had the gel mixed with water and spray painted onto the ends.

Painted On Dip: This is a newer style that is very natural looking. It looks more milky than white on the ends. Dip powder for both colors are dipped in a liquid then painted on to blend in with one another.

Colored/Glitter Ombré: Once a year, I give my salon a heart attack by saying I want pink glitter ombré nails for my birthday instead of my usual. This one was done with a dip + gel pairing, with the pink glitter gel painted on. You can also do ombré with other colors on the ends.

For those located in West Los Angeles, I highly recommend My Nail Bar. They are very friendly and detail-oriented. Every artist achieves nail shapes to perfection, and they offer services such as doing ombré or fun nail art designs. You can check out their instagram here (@mynailbars)!
