Wine Review: 2018 Domaine Josmeyer Riesling
Alsace Grand Cru AOC, France
During my WSET L3 course, I developed a newfound love for Alsace rieslings, and this one would have to be my favorite! This wine’s color is a gorgeous medium lemon with gold hues. It has primary notes of pear, peach, apricot, grapefruit, white blossom, honeysuckle, and elderflower. Though there are no secondary notes, there are tertiary aromas of honey and petrol.
It is dry with high acidity, a grippy viscosity (lees contact), medium alcohol, medium body, and medium+ flavor intensity. Its flavor profile includes lime and lemon, peach, flintiness/wet stone, honey, and petrol. It has a beautiful long finish, and would classify it as very good quality. Drink now, but there is potential for further aging. I highly recommend purchasing; it’s perfect for this upcoming summer!
